Metropolitan Playhouse

The Metropolitan Playhouse is seeking internships for fall in the following positions:

Company Management
Responsible for communications between the theater and actors, acting companies, volunteers, company supporters, and the community. Responsibilities include audition coordination, ensure compliance with policies and agreements in accordance with AEA guidelines, obtain actor photos for industry mailings and assist in all correspondence between the theater and its affiliates.

Candidates should be organized, detail oriented, and have excellent communication skills.

Operations
To oversee and initiate regular tasks, including: fundraising mailings, AEA applications, filing, stocking supplies, office organization and cleaning, maintaining calendar of space use, scheduling partnership meetings, maintaining mailing list, and other office duties associated with the functionality of a working theater.

Candidates should be able to work independently, set and meet deadlines, and prioritize and facilitate necessary tasks. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and FileMaker Pro helpful.

Public Relations
Assist Public Relations Director with press releases, flyer design and mailings, web presence and e-mail blasts, targeted marketing, and neighborhood outreach.

Excellent opportunity for someone interested in design and marketing, especially on the community level. Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, QuarkXPress, and internet publishing helpful.

Production Management/Technical Direction
The production management intern will work under the artistic director and assist in scheduling of production meetings, theater and equipment use, and construction, pursuing new avenues of obtaining materials and staff, and general theater/equipment/prop maintenance.

This position will involve hands on experience in coordinating show production and the opportunity to work with professional directors and designers.
