Between 1998-2005, ROBERT CALLELY was managing director of HB Playwrights Theatre, founded by Uta Hagen, where he oversaw production of 21 full-length and 70 one-act plays. Prior to that he was executive director of the American Theatre Wing; managing director of the Theatre Development Fund; and assistant director of NYC Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre & Broadcasting. Between 1972-1986 he also produced over 50 plays/musicals on tour and in stock, plus scores of concerts. Productions included Mame and Gypsy with Angela Lansbury, Lorelei with Carol Channing, No, No Nanette with Ruby Keeler, A Funny Thing and Fiddler with Zero Mostel, Molly Brown with Tammy Grimes, How To Succeed with Robert Morse and Rudy Vallee and Damn Yankees with Gwen Verdon. Concerts starred Cher, Dolly Parton, Liberace, Johnny Cash, Lena Horne, Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, Harry Belafonte, Bill Cosby, Bob Hope, the Bee Gees, Tony Bennett, Woody Allen and Ethel Merman. He has served on the Tony Awards Management and Advisory Committees and is currently a member of he Tony Nominating Committee.
